Cheddleton Parish Council purchased the Mill Lane Garages to secure this community asset for the benefit of local residents. The Council has not yet made any long-term decisions on how the site should be used and would like to hear residents’ views before considering the future of the garages.

Any future proposal must be financially sustainable, provide community benefit where possible and represent good value for money.

Background Information

To help residents understand the options available, the Council would like to provide the following information:

• The garages were purchased by Cheddleton Parish Council for £30,000.00.
• Additional costs incurred to date include:
  • Legal Fees – £3,193.00
  • Asbestos Survey – £120.00
• Total expenditure to date: £33,313.00.
• Prior to purchasing the site, the Council was advised that the garages may have an estimated market value of around £50,000. This was an indicative figure only and not a formal valuation.
• No decision has been made regarding the future of the site. The purpose of this consultation is to gather residents’ views before any future proposals are considered by the Council.
